PURPOSE / SCOPE:
It is the policy of the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine to assess an employee’s performance on an annual basis.
POLICY:
An evaluation of performance is completed for employees on an annual basis, in or around the month of June. Employees hired in the last quarter of the fiscal year (July through June) are not subject to the performance evaluation until the next evaluation period.
The appraisal process consists of an employee’s self-evaluation and a written evaluation completed by the employee’s supervisor. The annual evaluation provides the employee and supervisor an opportunity to review past performance, address any concerns and develop future goals, including use of continuing education resources. Completed evaluations are retained in the employee’s electronic personnel file.
Remediation
The performance evaluation process is intended to be a positive, constructive approach to help employees grow with the organization and to align efforts with organizational needs. When an employee’s efforts do not meet the expectations of the supervisor or organization, a supervisor may implement a performance improvement plan. Such plans may be addressed during the performance evaluation when minor correction is needed, more significant performance concerns are addressed in the Progressive Discipline policy.
