PURPOSE / SCOPE:
ICOM’s compliance training program provides education and training on compliance requirements and standards. ICOM intends to comply with all federal and state regulations regarding training.
POLICY AND PROCEDURE:
Compliance training and education is required of all employees, regardless of role. Employees receive training at their new hire orientation and on an annual basis.
Orientation Training
New employees complete compliance training within three days of their start date. Human Resources assigns the appropriate compliance training modules through the HR learning management system, currently Collabornation, and includes a deadline for completion. Training modules scheduled for new hires include:
- FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)
- Overview of the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act)
- TITLE IX (Sex Discrimination)
- Harassment & Discrimination Prevention
- Drug and Alcohol Prevention
- Osteopathic Medicine
- Data Security Training
- Clery Act
- HIPAA
Annual Training
Employees are required to complete compliance training modules on an annual basis. The required trainings vary from year to year, but a core group will be included each year, as follows:
- FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)
- Harassment & Discrimination Prevention
- TITLE IX (Sex Discrimination)
- Clery Act
Drug and Alcohol information is sent out periodically either through training modules or via the full Drug and Alcohol Program document.
Additional Training for Certain Positions
Employees working in the Anatomy lab will be required to complete the following additional trainings during new employee orientation and annually, prior to the beginning of each academic year:
- Bloodborne Pathogens & HIV
- Basic First Aid
- Clery Act
- ISU’s Training Videos
- Bloodborne Pathogen and Sharps Spill Clean Up
- Hazardous Waste Awareness
- Radiation Awareness
Employees working in the Research lab will be required to complete training for laboratory safety and compliance. See the Research Training and Compliance policy for additional information
Other roles may require additional mandatory training in order to ensure a safe and compliant workplace.
