PURPOSE / SCOPE:
To provide income protection when an employee is called to serve on a jury or to act as a court witness.
POLICY AND PROCEDURE:
Full- and part-time employees may be allowed up to five (5) days leave per occurrence with full pay for jury/civil duty when subpoenaed for such services. Employees are to notify their supervisors as soon as possible so that schedules may be arranged if needed. Employees are expected to return to work after service, unless more than half of the work day is consumed.
Employees are to document their time in ICOM’s timekeeping system. Jury/Civil duty leave should only be used for days and hours in which an employee is normally scheduled and are excluded from any overtime calculations.
